Weather Update / Cyclone Alert: Heavy Rain And Strong Winds Expected In Odisha Due To Cyclone ‘Montha’

Bhubaneswar, Oct 26: Odisha
is likely to experience heavy rainfall and strong winds for three consecutive
days due to the impact of Cyclone Montha, starting tomorrow.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of intense
weather conditions from October 28 to 29, with gusty winds and heavy showers
expected across the state.
Fifteen districts in southern and coastal Odisha are expected to be
most affected. These include Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and
Malkangiri, which may face severe impact.

✨Other districts such as Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh,
Cuttack, and Khordha are also likely to experience significant rainfall and
wind activity.

The IMD has predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Malkangiri and
Koraput, and the cyclone’s path may shift as it intensifies. The Odisha
government has placed disaster management teams on high alert and is preparing
for emergency response measures.
Due to rough sea conditions, danger signal number 3 has been issued at all ports, and fishermen have been strictly prohibited from venturing into the sea between October 26 and 30. The Coast Guard is actively patrolling the waters, and fishermen currently at sea have been instructed to return to shore immediately.
