Kandhamal, Feb 3: A Class 3 student in Odisha's Simanbadi has been hospitalised after he was thrashed brutally by his school teacher.
According to reports, the disturbing case of corporal punishment has emerged from a private English medium school in Simanbadi, under Daringbadi police limits, where a Class 3 student, Prince Pradhan (9) of Karipanga village, was allegedly beaten by his mathematics teacher for failing to bring his math notebook to school.
According to reports, the teacher struck the child’s hands and back with a bamboo stick, causing serious injuries.
After returning home, his grandmother noticed the marks and questioned him. The boy later developed fever and was admitted to hospital following initial treatment at Simanbadi Health Centre.

Parents and locals expressed outrage, pointing out that
schools have been declared “corporal punishment-free zones.” They questioned
how such inhumane treatment of young children could still occur.
