Mumbai, Nov 27: A disturbing incident has come to light in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai where a tenth-grade student has accused her own mother and a male neighbour of forcing her into prostitution.
According to police officials, the minor girl approached authorities and filed a formal complaint, alleging that she was coerced into the sex trade by the two accused.
The girl, in her complaint, alleged that from April until the day she reported the incident, her mother and the neighbour had compelled her to engage in prostitution as a means of earning money.
Acting on her statement, the Mumbai Police registered a case and booked both individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
