Bengaluru, Jan 20: Dr. K Ramachandra Rao, Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, has been suspended with immediate effect after multiple videos allegedly showing him in compromising positions with women surfaced on social media on Monday.
The suspension order stated that Rao had acted in an “obscene manner unbecoming of a government servant and causing embarrassment to the government.”
The state government noted that his conduct was in violation of service rules and decided to place him under suspension pending inquiry.
During the suspension period, Rao has been directed not to leave headquarters without prior written permission from the government.
As the controversy escalated, Rao attempted to meet Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday, but the meeting did not take place.
Speaking to reporters outside the minister’s residence, Rao rejected the allegations, terming the videos “fabricated and false.”
“I am shocked. It is all fabricated and a lie. The video is all false. I have no idea about it,” he said, adding that he was unsure how or when the videos were made.

Rao, a 1993 batch IPS officer, suggested the clips could be old, dating back to his tenure in Belagavi eight years ago.
