Mumbai, Jan 13: Indian actor and reality-TV personality Khushi Mukherjee has once again become the centre of a media firestorm after a recent claim involving Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav went viral online. The aftermath has reportedly led to a Rs 100 crore defamation suit tied to her statement, raising fresh questions about the legal risks of sensational public commentary in the social media age.

The controversy began at a recent public event when Khushi was asked about cricketers she might admire or consider dating. In the interaction, she claimed that several cricketers had shown interest in her and specifically stated that Suryakumar Yadav “used to message her a lot earlier.” She stressed, however, that she had no intention of dating any cricketer and did not want links with anyone.


While Suryakumar Yadav or his official representatives have not issued a direct statement on Khushi’s remarks, reports have emerged of a defamation lawsuit filed in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, by a local resident on behalf of the cricketer’s reputation.


The claim seeks Rs 100 crore and asks authorities to take legal action against the actor, alleging that her remarks were false and damaging. Local police have been asked to respond to the complaint, though neither side has publicly commented on the lawsuit to date.
