Bhadrak, Jan 27: A shocking incident of violence has been reported from the Guzidarada outpost area under Bhadrak Rural Police Station, where a couple was allegedly assaulted by their neighbours following a dispute over land.
According to reports, Prashant Kumar Jena of Madhusudanpur
under Arnapal Panchayat had asked his neighbour, Gyanendra Das, and his wife
Manika Das, to vacate his land.
The couple had stored construction materials
such as sand, chips, and bricks on Jena’s plot for over a month, which later
extended to several months. When Prashant attempted to build a boundary wall
and requested them to clear the space, the neighbours allegedly refused.

This disagreement soon escalated into a heated quarrel. Prashant’s wife, Urvashilata Nayak, has alleged that Gyanendra and his family members launched a sudden attack on her and her husband. In the assault, Prashant sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Urvashilata lodged a formal complaint at the Guzidarada outpost, stating that despite earlier complaints regarding the land dispute, no resolution had been reached. She further warned that if justice is not delivered, she will approach higher authorities.

Police officials, including the Guzidarada outpost in-charge and Bhadrak Rural Police, have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated an investigation. The incident has sparked concern among locals, highlighting the growing tension over land disputes in rural areas.
Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty, as such acts of violence undermine peace and law in the community.
