Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in several parts of Odisha over the next few days, with the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar issuing a yellow warning for multiple districts.
The weather department has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds of up to 30-40 kmph in several districts.
Heavy Rainfall Alert
For the period from 8:30 am on August 10 to 8:30 am on August 11, heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in Baleshwar, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur and Koraput, according to the IMD.
A yellow warning has also been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati.

Weather Forecast for August 11-12
For the period from 8:30 am on August 11 to 8:30 am on August 12, heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj, the IMD said.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 30-40 kmph are also likely at one or two places in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.
Fresh Cyclonic Circulation Likely
The IMD has also forecast the formation of a fresh cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh around August 11.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region around August 13, according to the weather agency.
The IMD has advised residents to remain aware of the prevailing weather conditions in areas under the yellow warning.
