Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a yellow warning for dense fog in several districts of Odisha over the next two days, officials said.  The advisory cautions residents to remain alert as visibility is expected to drop significantly in isolated pockets.


According to the IMD's latest bulletin, dense fog is likely to occur at isolated pockets in Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts on Wednesday and Thursday.


In addition, shallow to moderate fog is forecast during early hours or morning hours in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Rayagada over the next two days.

The IMD’s yellow warning serves as a reminder for commuters and residents to remain vigilant and plan accordingly, as fog conditions are expected to persist across multiple districts.


The authorities urged people to be updated on weather conditions and exercise caution, particularly during early morning travel.

Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Met Centre also predicted no large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, a rise of 2–3°C is expected across several districts of Odisha. This gradual increase in night temperatures is likely to influence fog intensity and overall weather conditions across the state, the officials said.
