    For now, the most meaningful signal is the convergence around a wet Odisha scenario, rather than the extreme intensity shown by one model. The track and intensity could still shift substantially as observations improve and the system becomes better organised.

    ECMWF notes that forecasts several days ahead depend on establishing an accurate picture of the atmosphere using observations, including satellite data.

    Therefore, September 23–24 should be treated as a watch window, not a fixed landfall date. The next few operational runs – particularly once the low-pressure area forms – will be critical in determining whether Odisha faces primarily a heavy-rain event or a stronger wind-producing cyclone.
