Rainfall Activity Likely to Intensify Across Odisha From August 4, Says IMD

Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast an increase in rainfall activity across Odisha from August 4, issuing a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in several districts over the next few days.

The weather office has advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert as heavy rain is likely to affect both northern and southern parts of the state.

Heavy Rain Likely In Six Districts Over Next 24 Hours
For the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Debagada and Anugola districts.

A Yellow Warning has also been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, and moderate rainfall at isolated places in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Boudh and Nayagada.

Rainfall Activity Likely To Increase From August 4
The IMD said rainfall is expected to intensify across Odisha from August 4.

Heavy rainfall has been forecast for Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundaragada, prompting a Yellow Warning for these districts.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely over Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Dhenkanal, Anugola, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Debagada.

Heavy Rain Warning Continues Through August 6
According to the IMD's extended forecast, August 5 to August 6 is likely to witness heavy rainfall in Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also expected across Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.

Warning Extends Into August 7
For the period between August 6 and August 7, the IMD forecast heavy rainfall in Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.
