India Clinches Women's Asian Champions Trophy with 4-0 Victory Over Japan

Ranchi, 06 Nov:  In a thrilling final match, India emerged victorious in the Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy by defeating Japan 4-0. The game, which started after a one-hour delay, witnessed a slow start with both teams struggling to gain control. However, Sangita Kumari provided the much-needed breakthrough for India early in the second quarter with a brilliant finish over the Japanese goalkeeper, setting the momentum for her team.

Neha Goyal showcased outstanding performance, doubling India's lead with a deflection from a well-executed penalty corner routine. Japan had a chance to narrow the deficit but was denied by Indian goalkeeper Savita Punia's remarkable save. Lalremsiami extended India's lead with a looping shot off a rebound, and Vandana Katariya sealed the victory with the fourth goal, thanks to Neha's excellent setup.

This triumph marked India's second Asian Champions Trophy title, the first being in 2016. Under the guidance of head coach Janneke Schopman, India displayed dominance throughout the tournament, winning all seven matches, scoring 27 goals, and conceding only three. The victory not only brought joy to the capacity crowd in Ranchi but also served as a significant achievement for the Indian team as they prepare for the upcoming Olympic qualifiers.
