Harare, Feb 6: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi struck 175 off 80 balls as India posted 411 for 9 against England in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 final, setting multiple tournament and youth ODI records.

India's Highest Score
India’s 411 for 9 is the highest total in an Under-19 World Cup knockout match and the first 350-plus score in a playoff game in the tournament’s history. The previous record was India’s 349 for 6 against Namibia in the 2016 quarterfinal in Fatullah. The earlier highest total in a final was Australia’s 253 for 7 against India in 2024.

It was also India’s third 400-plus total in Under-19 World Cup history. No other team has recorded more than one.

Sooryavanshi Shatters Records
Sooryavanshi’s 175 is the first 150-plus score in a playoff match at the Under-19 World Cup. The previous highest in a knockout game was 143 by West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran against Australia in the 2014 quarterfinal. The earlier highest score in a final was 111 not out by India’s Unmukt Chand against Australia in 2012.

At 14 years, 316 days, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in the tournament, surpassing Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who was 15 years, 92 days when he reached the milestone in 2010.

His century came off 55 balls, the second-fastest in Under-19 World Cup history, behind Australia’s Will Malajczuk, who took 51 balls against Japan earlier in the 2026 edition. Sooryavanshi reached 150 in 71 balls, the fastest to the milestone in the tournament, bettering the previous mark of 98 balls set by England’s Ben Mayes earlier in the competition.

Sooryavanshi’s strike rate of 218.75 is the highest for any innings of at least 50 balls in Under-19 World Cup history.

The 175 is the second-highest score by an Indian in Youth ODIs, behind Ambati Rayudu’s unbeaten 177 against England Under-19 in 2002.

He hit 15 sixes in the innings, the most in a Youth ODI innings. His tally of 30 sixes in the 2026 tournament is the highest in a single edition of the Under-19 World Cup, surpassing the previous record of 18 held jointly by Dewald Brevis and Finn Allen.

Sooryavanshi has now struck 110 sixes in 25 Youth ODI innings, the most in the format. He also registered four 50-plus scores in the tournament, all at a strike rate above 100.

His aggregate of 439 runs in the 2026 edition is the fourth-highest in a single Under-19 World Cup, behind Dewald Brevis (506 in 2022), Shikhar Dhawan (505 in 2004) and Brett Williams (471 in 1988).
