New Delhi, Sep 25: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Pakistani cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for making provocative gestures during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash held on September 21 in Dubai.
The complaint, submitted on Wednesday, accuses Rauf of mimicking the downing of a jet in response to Indian fans chanting “Kohli, Kohli,” a reference to Virat Kohli’s iconic sixes off Rauf in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Rauf also allegedly hurled verbal abuse at Indian openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma during his bowling spell.
Sahibzada Farhan, meanwhile, is under scrutiny for celebrating his half-century with a gun-firing gesture using his bat as a prop. The act drew widespread criticism on social media and from cricketing circles, with many calling it inappropriate and inflammatory. Farhan later dismissed the backlash, stating, “It was just a spur-of-the-moment celebration. I don’t care how people take it.”

✨If the players deny the allegations, ICC Elite Panel Referee Richie Richardson is expected to conduct a hearing. Sanctions under the ICC Code of Conduct could range from fines to match suspensions.
In a retaliatory move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly filed a complaint against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav for dedicating India’s September 14 victory to the Indian Armed Forces and victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The PCB claims the remarks were political, though procedural delays may hinder the complaint’s validity.
The incident has added tension to an already heated
tournament, with India already marching into the final following their victory
over Bangladesh, while Pakistan still in contention for the title clash. The
ICC’s response will be closely watched in the coming days.
