Varanasi, Jan 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 72nd National Volleyball Tournament on January 4, 2026, at 12 noon via video conferencing. The inaugural ceremony will be held at Dr. Sampoorna­nand Sports Stadium in Varanasi, officials said on Saturday.

The week-long tournament, scheduled from January 4 to 11, will witness participation from across India, with more than 1,000 players competing as part of 58 teams representing various states and institutions. Organizers expect the event to showcase high standards of competition, sportsmanship, and emerging talent in Indian volleyball.
