Srinagar, Aug 23: Odisha's Aviraj clinched gold in Men's Single Scull (M1X) event at the ongoing 1st Khelo India Water Sports Festival in Srinagar on Saturday.
In the K4W-500m event, Odisha's girl team featuring Bidya Devi, Shruti Chougule, K Yaiphatombi Devi and L Sonia Devi won gold.
Similarly, Rasmita Sahoo and Achoibam Sanatombi Devi made Odisha proud by winning gold medal in C2W-500m event at the ongoing sports festival.
Odisha's Sweeti and Anshika Bharti secured silver medal in Light Women's Double Scull (LW2X) event.
The first edition of the three-day Khelo India Water Sports Festival was inaugurated at Dal Lake in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The water sports include five major water sports: kayaking and canoeing, rowing, water skiing, Shikara race and dragon boat race.
Organised jointly by the Sports Authority of India and Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, the festival is a direct outcome of the government's 'Khelo India' policy, which aims to promote sports at the grassroots level, create livelihoods and rejuvenate local infrastructure.

On Day 2, Madhya Pradesh emerged as the dominant force clinching all four gold medals. Hosts Jammu and Kashmir added a silver to their tally, while Odisha secured two silvers to rise to second in the medal standings.
