India’s women scripted history at Lord’s, thrashing England by 270 runs in the One-Off Test. Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana starred, while Sachin Tendulkar’s pep talk added magic to the victory.

London, July 13: Indian women’s cricket team registered a monumental victory at the iconic Lord’s on Monday as they thrashed England eves by a massive margin of 270 runs in the One-Off Test.

The Women in Blue arrived with history in their sights — and they seized it comfortably, with Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana combining brilliantly to claim the final four wickets.

India were required to get only four remaining wickets to seal the deal. And it didn’t take long for India to get rid of Amy Jones, dismissed by Rana in the third over of the day with the scoreboard reading 135/7.

Earlier, cricket great Sachin Tendulkar addressed the Indian eves on the hallowed turf of Lord's Cricket Ground just before the start of the morning session on Monday.

Tendulkar was seen walking out and interacting with the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, as well as the support staff members, to provide an unforgettable motivational boost, especially with India standing on the cusp of a famous Test victory on English soil.

“Wow, the day gets better and better if you're an Indian player, an Indian fan. The great man, the great man Sachin Tendulkar unannounced, has just popped in and he's decided to come over and chat with the Indian players. I mean, what a lift that is.

“They're about to win this historic Test match surely in the morning session and some incredible words there from Sachin. It is so good to see him here. It is so good to see him here involved in women's cricket as well. And what a moment that is for all those players,” said former England batter Nick Knight on air before the morning session began.

The timing of Tendulkar's surprise visit could not have been more perfect when India were heading towards a monumental victory at the ‘Home of Cricket’.

Brief Scores: India Women 285 & 341/7d beat England Women 170 & xxx (Amy Jones 54, Sophie Ecclestone 50; Sneh Rana 4/42, Sayali Satghare 2/24, Deepti Sharma 2/36, Kranti Gaud 2/54) by 270 runs.
