Guwahati, Sep 29: India will return to the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday, aiming to seal the three-match ODI series against the West Indies at a venue that has been a happy hunting ground for the Men in Blue.

The team arrives buoyed by a thrilling chase in Thiruvananthapuram, where a special Virat Kohli show guided India past 297. Kohli’s unbeaten 139 off 88 balls dismantled the Windies attack, while captain Shubman Gill struck a composed 110 from 108 deliveries.

With the ball, Kuldeep Yadav was the standout performer, claiming 4/40 to halt the visitors’ momentum.

Barsapara has been a fortress for India. Both ODIs played here have ended in victories, with Kohli scoring centuries in each and Rohit Sharma contributing a ton and a half-century. The venue has consistently produced high-scoring contests, with all four innings surpassing 300 runs, suggesting another run-fest could be on the cards.

The West Indies, however, showed their batting firepower in the opener. John Campbell hit 62 from 60 balls, while Justin Greaves compiled 101 off 108 deliveries. At 135/0 in 19 overs, the visitors looked set for a massive total before Kuldeep’s spell turned the tide.

India’s other bowlers struggled, with Nitish Kumar Reddy conceding 45 runs, debutant Naman Dhir giving away 33 in five overs, and Gurnoor Brar going wicketless for 60 runs in his 10.

With Mohammed Siraj and Auqib Nabi benched in the last game, the management may consider changes to the bowling attack. There is also a possibility of giving Dhruv Jurel or Yashasvi Jaiswal game time as India looks to clinch the series.
