Dubai, Dec 14: India Under-19 continued their dominant run in the Men’s Asia Cup, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by 90 runs in a rain-curtailed Group A match at the ICC Academy Ground on Sunday.
The contest was reduced to 49 overs per side following a rain delay. India posted 240 all out before bundling Pakistan out for 150 in 41.2 overs to register a comprehensive victory.
With the win, India remained unbeaten in the tournament and moved to the top of Group A, strengthening their chances of a semi-final berth.
Asked to bat first, India got off to a brisk start through captain Ayush Mhatre, who struck 38 off 25 balls as the side raced to 78 for 1 inside the first 10 overs. The innings briefly stalled after his dismissal, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi failing to build partnerships.
Aaron George steadied the innings with a composed knock of 85, anchoring India’s recovery with precise timing and smart strike rotation. He found support from Kanishk Chouhan, who scored a steady 46, while Abhigyan Kundu chipped in with 22 to take India past the 200-run mark.
