Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: The Germany women’s hockey team have arrived in Bhubaneswar Monday for their FIH Pro League 2024/25 matches in Odisha.

The visitors received warm reception upon their arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.

Germany, led by Co-Captains Linnea Wiedemann and Sarah Strauss, is scheduled to face Spain February 15 and 16, followed by their clash against the hosts India February 21 and 22.

Notably, Germany finished their 2023/24 season as runners-up behind the Netherlands. However, they have failed to get that momentum, struggling for form so far in the competition.

The German eves are yet to register a win having already played four matches. They have two draws and a couple of defeats to their name, which clearly shows their struggle. They are seventh in the standings with only three points in their kitty.

Eclipsing all the expectations, China lead the chart with 16 points in eight matches followed by Netherlands, Australia, Belgium and Argentina, respectively to complete the top five.

Odisha has previously hosted the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, as well as the Rourkela and Bhubaneswar legs of the FIH Pro League 2022/23 and 2023/24.
