Lonavala, Jul 19: Unidentified intruders broke into the Lonavala bungalow of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, making off with Rs 50,000 in cash and a television set worth Rs 7,000.

According to reports, the matter came to fore after complaint was lodged in this regard.

As per the complaint lodged by Mohammad Mujib Khan, a 54-year-old personal assistant to Azharuddin, stated that the break-in likely occurred during a period when the bungalow was unoccupied between 7 March and 18 July 2025.

In addition to the theft, the culprits also damaged property inside the house, indicating deliberate vandalism, he stated in his complaint.

Taking note of the complaint, Lonavala Rural Police registered a case under relevant Sections of IPC and initiated a probe.

The First Information Report (FIR) was officially registered on July 19 and no stolen property has been recovered so far.

Police is currently examining the crime scene and gathering evidence, including possible CCTV footage and forensic material, to identify and trace the culprits.
