BCCI-Dream11 Deal Ends: Who Will Sponsor Team India Next?

Key Points
BCCI ends ₹358 crore Dream11 deal due to online gaming ban.
New title sponsor unlikely to be finalized before Asia Cup.
Toyota Motor Corporation and a Fintech start-up have reportedly shown interest.
Mumbai, Aug 25: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially ended its ₹358 crore sponsorship deal with fantasy sports platform Dream11 following the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025.
The legislation bans real-money gaming and prohibits advertisements promoting such platforms, forcing Dream11 to exit its contract prematurely.
Notably, Dream11 had signed a three-year deal in 2023 to sponsor Team India across formats, replacing edtech firm Byju’s. With the Asia Cup just a couple of weeks away, BCCI now faces a race against time to secure a new title sponsor.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development, stating, “With government regulations in place, the BCCI cannot continue its sponsorship relationship with Dream11 or any such other gaming company. Under the new restrictions, there is no scope and we are facing a roadblock with Dream11.”

✨The board is expected to float a new tender soon, but the process — inviting bids, evaluating proposals, and finalizing a sponsor — may not be completed before the Asia Cup begins on September 9.
“We are trying to find some alternatives, and that process is now ongoing. The vacant position of the sponsor is something that we are trying to fill and till now nothing has been completed. Once something happens we will let you know with a media advisory,” added the BCCI Secretary.
Despite exiting with nearly a year left in the contract, Dream11 will not face penalties due to a clause that exempts sponsors from liability in case of government-imposed restrictions.
As BCCI explores alternatives, several corporate giants could step in. According to some media reports, Toyota Motor Corporation and a Fintech start-up have all shown interest till now. However, the official tendering process has not started yet. Additionally, other fintech firms and consumer brands may eye the opportunity to associate with Team India’s massive global reach.
The exit of Dream11 also casts uncertainty over other
fantasy gaming partnerships, including My11Circle’s ₹625 crore IPL deal, which
may face similar regulatory hurdles.
