Cuttack, Jan 27: BCCI chief curator Ashish Bhowmick has visited Barabati Stadium in Cuttack ahead of the ODI match between India and England, February 9.
The iconic stadium is all set to host the second ODI of the three-match series, starting February 6 in Nagpur. The third and final match is scheduled for Feb 12 in Ahmedabad.
Bhowmick has discussed with OCA (Odisha Cricket Association) curator and the ground staff about the preparations for the match, which will be a day-night affair.
Barabati Stadium will be hosting an ODI after five years as the last 50-over encounter being played at the venue was on December 22, 2019 between India and West Indies. India had won that match by four wickets with then skipper Virat Kohli being the top scorer having scored 85.
However, the venue had hosted a T20I -- between India and South Africa -- on June 12, 2022. The visitors came out on top in the shortest format despite Bhuvneshwar Kumar's splendid 4/13 in four overs with Heinrich Klaasen playing a blitzkrieg of a knock of 46-ball 81.
As per the report, Bhowmick expressed satisfaction over the preparations. The OCA curator and ground staff have said that anti-dew spray and super sopper are ready to use keeping the dew possiblility in mind.
On the other hand, sub-committee meetings were held Monday under the leadership of OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera at the OCA Conference Hall to ensure the smooth and successful hosting of the match.
