Bhubaneswar, Sep 24: In a surprising twist amid simmering India-Pakistan diplomatic tensions, veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is reportedly in talks to join the same Big Bash League (BBL) franchise as Pakistan’s star all-rounder Shadab Khan — Sydney Thunder.
If finalized, this move could mark a rare moment of sporting camaraderie between players from the two cricketing giants, despite strained political relations.
Reports from Australian outlets, Ashwin is likely to join Thunder following the conclusion of the UAE’s ILT20 conclusion in early January. The former India spinner had earlier committed to the entirety of the ILT20 which ends on January 4, stating that he will entering the auction.
Notably, the Thunder had signed up Pakistan’s Shadab Khan in the draft that took place in June.
