Visakhapatnam, Dec 23: India Women registered a commanding seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second T20I at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Opting to bowl first, India restricted Sri Lanka to 128 for 9 in 20 overs. Spinners N. Shree Charani (2/23) and Vaishnavi Sharma (2/32) led the attack, striking at regular intervals to keep the visitors in check. Despite brief resistance from Harshitha Samarawickrama (33) and skipper Chamari Athapaththu (31), Sri Lanka failed to build momentum.

In reply, India chased down the target in just 11.5 overs, finishing at 129 for 3. Shafali Verma stole the show with a blistering unbeaten 69 off 34 balls, including powerful strokes all around the ground. Jemimah Rodrigues contributed a steady 26, ensuring India’s dominance throughout the chase.

The emphatic win showcased India’s all-round strength, combining disciplined bowling with aggressive batting. With this victory, India now holds a 2-0 advantage in the series, putting them in a strong position ahead of the remaining three matches.
