New Delhi, May 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major organisational reshuffle, appointing new presidents for its state units in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Tripura. BJP national president Nitin Nabin made the appointments official through separate notifications issued by national general secretary Arun Singh.
East Delhi MP and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra has been named the new president of the BJP’s Delhi unit, replacing Virendra Sachdeva. Malhotra, a first-time MP, is known for his grassroots organisational skills and previously served as Mayor of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
In Punjab, former Congress leader and Barnala MLA Kewal Singh Dhillon has taken charge as the new BJP president, succeeding Sunil Jakhar. Dhillon, who joined the BJP in 2022, is seen as a strategic Sikh face for the party in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. He pledged to work with “utmost dedication” and declared that the BJP’s lotus would bloom in Punjab.

Archana Gupta, hailing from Panipat, has been appointed as Haryana BJP chief, replacing Mohan Lal Badoli. Gupta has long been active in the state unit, serving as State General Secretary before her elevation.
In Tripura, Abhishek Debroy has replaced Rajib Bhattacharjee as the new state president. Debroy, who won the Matarbari Assembly seat in 2023, is expected to strengthen the party’s base in the northeastern state.
Outgoing leaders including Sunil Jakhar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leaders for their guidance during their tenure. Analysts view these appointments as part of Nabin’s broader strategy to energize the party’s state units and prepare for upcoming electoral battles.
