Khordha, Dec 23: In another incident of man-animal conflict, a youth was reportedly trampled to death by a male elephant at Chhatipur village under the Sadar police station limits in Khordha district today. 

The deceased has been identified as Dilip Paschimakabat of Chhatipur. 

According to the information, Dilip had gone to his cashew field for work when he came across a tusker. He found no way to escape and the wild jumbo trampled him under its foot. He died on the spot. 

A herd of six elephants has been moving around Chhatipur since last evening. The elephants reportedly came from the nearby jungle. 

While locals have demanded adequate compensation for the family of the deceased, forest officials reached the spot and started an investigation. They have also kept vigil on the movement of the elephants.
