Berhampur, July 4: A youth reportedly tried to kill himself by slitting his own throat following a quarrel with his wife at Kharvel Nagar under Badabazaar Police Station limits in Berhampur city.

The victim, identified as Ashok Kumar Panigrahi, allegedly slit his own throat in a fit of rage and distress.

Despite severe injuries, Panigrahi managed to ride his motorcycle unaided to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Hospital authorities confirmed his admission and stated that his condition remains critical but stable.

Police officials have begun an investigation to verify the sequence of events and ascertain further details behind the incident.

Preliminary reports suggest a heated verbal exchange may have preceded the act, though officials are awaiting statements from the individuals involved.
