All Four Riders Thrown Onto Road After Collision Near Sharp Bend

Daringbadi, May 19: A youth was killed and three others sustained serious injuries after two motorcycles collided head-on in Daringbadi in Odisha’s Kandhamal district, a source said Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Budu Nayak from Tilori village. The injured were identified as Gurudev Dalabehera, Jashobant Majhi and Prabhat Dalabehera, all residents of Tilori village.

According to the source, Budu Nayak and Jashobant Majhi were travelling from Simanbadi towards Tilori on Monday night when another bike carrying Gurudev Dalabehera and Prabhat Dalabehera was coming from the opposite direction towards Simanbadi. The two motorcycles collided head-on near a sharp bend at Pangalmaha.

Following the impact, all four riders were thrown onto the road.

Locals informed ambulance services and shifted two injured persons to hospital, while police later rescued the remaining two and admitted them to Daringbadi Community Health Centre.

As Budu Nayak and Gurudev Dalabehera sustained critical injuries, doctors referred them to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. However, Budu Nayak later succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment late at night. The condition of the remaining injured persons is stated to be serious.

In another accident under Daringbadi police limits, two youths were critically injured after their motorcycle crashed into an electric pole near Mahamayi temple on National Highway-59.

The injured were identified as Gurudev Pradhan from Judabadi village and Madhab Behera from Kirikuti panchayat.

Police said the duo was returning from Daringbadi to Simanbadi when the rider allegedly lost control of the motorcycle near a bend close to the temple. The bike reportedly skidded onto sand lying beside the road before crashing into the electric pole.

Both sustained severe injuries and were admitted to Daringbadi Community Health Centre by locals with the help of ambulance services. Gurudev Pradhan reportedly suffered a severe fracture in his right leg, the source informed.
