Banki, June 3: A youth was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in Odisha’s Banki area early on Tuesday.

According to reports, the accident occurred early in the morning when the victim, identified as Bhimasen Pradhan, a resident of Dhasangara village, was returning from a local pond. Meanwhile, an unidentified speeding vehicle, believed to be a heavy truck, struck him fatally on the Banki-Khordha highway before fleeing the scene.

Family members suspect a highway truck was involved in the accident, and they, along with other villagers, have staged a protest by sitting on the road, bringing traffic to a standstill.

As a result, hundreds of vehicles have been stranded, causing widespread disruption.

Taking note of the report, local police reached the spot and are working to pacify the agitated crowd.

Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicle responsible for the accident and take appropriate action.
