Berhampur, Oct 20: A 23-year-old youth lost his life due to a firecracker explosion in Odisha’s Ganjam district late last night, police said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Pintu Palei, son of
Anadi Palei from Kaithada village under Khalikote police limits in the
district.
According to reports, the explosion severely injured Pintu,
destroying one of his legs and an arm. The blast also damaged parts of his
house.
On being informed, Khalikote Police immediately reached the
village and rushed Pintu to the Khalikote Community Health Centre for
treatment. However, the attending doctors declared him dead upon his arrival.

Later, the police seized the body and sent it for
post-mortem examination. An investigation has been launched to determine the
cause and circumstances of the explosion.
The incident has cast a shadow over Diwali celebrations in
the region, raising concerns about the safe handling and storage of
firecrackers.
Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and
follow safety guidelines during the festive season to prevent such tragedies.
