Khurda, Apr 20: A youth sustained critical bullet injuries after being shot at by unidentified assailants in Khurda's Balipatna area late on Saturday night.

The victim, identified as Dipti Ranjan Mohapatra, was returning home after visiting his sister when two unidentified assailants intercepted him and opened fire on the youth. Following the incident, Dipti sustained bullet injuries on his left hand.

On being informed, police reached the spot and immediately rushed Dipti to Capital Hospital for treatment.

Later, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident, aiming to identify and apprehend the culprits.

While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, authorities suspect it to be a case of past enmity.

This incident has left the local community shaken, raising concerns about safety and security in the area.
