Dhenkanal, Jan 15: In a tragic incident, a young man died of electrocution after coming in contact with 132 KV high-tension wire in Odisha's Dhenkanal district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Jagannath Rout, a resident of Basulei village under Parajang police station limits in the district. He was a goatherd.

As per reports, the incident occured when the youth was cutting branches of a tree, which was in contact with the high-tension wire, to graze goats. The youth was reportedly charred to death instantly.

After getting information, Parajang police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the locals demanded action against electricity department staffers for the alleged lapse of their duty that led to the death of the youth.
