Jaleswar, Sep 8: A youth was brutally attacked and robbed by unidentified assailants near Jamalpur bypass under Jaleswar jurisdiction late last night.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Arun Mohanty from Banida village, was returning home from his job when the some unidentified miscreants chased the victim. When resisted, the miscreants attacked the victim with sharp weapon, injuring him critically. Then they snatched cash and mobile phone from the accused.
The matter came to light after the youth was rescued in a critical state.
On being informed, police reached to the spot and rescued the victim to Jaleswar Community Health Center. Due to the severity of his injuries—particularly to his head and both arms—he was later referred to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.
Sources reported that the attackers used a knife-like weapon and escaped soon after the incident. The local community played a crucial role in providing first aid and informing the victim’s family.
Police have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the culprits.
