Cuttack, Aug 22: A shocking incident of violence unfolded in the Jagatpur police station area of Cuttack, where a minor girl was brutally assaulted by a youth after rejecting his love proposal.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Malaya Samal, allegedly attacked the girl with a brick while she was on her way to college with friends.

The accused first pulled victim's hair and then struck her multiple times, leaving her bleeding and severely injured on the spot.

Sources reveal that Samal had earlier obtained the girl's phone number and persistently called her to express his feelings. Despite her repeated refusals, he continued his attempts. Frustrated by the rejection, he resorted to violence in broad daylight.

Following the incident, the victim sustained serious injuries to her head, back, and other parts of the body, and is currently undergoing medical treatment.

A complaint has been filed at Jagatpur Police Station and an investigation is underway.
