Bhanjanagar, May 27: A youth sustained critical injuries after some persons attacked him with a sword during a local Jatra festival in Barapali village under the Khallikote police jurisdiction in Ganjam district.

According to reports, the victim, Bachan Pradhan, and some youths engaged in an altercation over some issue during a local Jatra festival of the village. The situation turned violent when the accused persons, in a fit of rage, attacked Bachan with a sword. Following the incident, the youth was rushed to Khallikote Group Health Center for primary treatment before being referred to Berhampur for advanced medical care.

On being informed, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.

Reportedly, authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the attack.
