Aska, June 23: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday outlined his vision of transforming Odisha into a developed State by 2036.


Addressing a “Yuva Shatki Samabesh” (youth convention) at Aska in Ganjam district to mark his government’s first anniversary, CM Majhi called the youth as the “charioteers of Odisha’s growth,” emphasizing their energy, strength, and potential as the driving force behind the state’s transformation.


CM Majhi highlighted the dual efforts of the central and state governments in creating abundant opportunities for young people across sectors. He underscored the importance of quality education as the foundation of all possibilities, noting the swift implementation of the National Education Policy and initiatives like the “Godabarish Mishra Model Primary School” and “Nipun Odisha” for foundational learning. For higher education, schemes like PM-USHA and reservation for socially and educationally backward classes were cited as major reforms.


The Chief Minister stated that over 28,000 government posts have been filled and that industrialization under the “Utkarsh Odisha 2025” initiative has created nearly 13 lakh employment opportunities. He added that the State government is working on strengthening of ITIs, the launch of World Skill Centres, and international collaborations for advanced training in AI, semiconductors, and aerospace.

CM Majhi also revealed that Odisha is on track to become a USD 500 billion economy by 2036 and a USD1.5 trillion economy by 2047, with 36 dedicated programs driving this vision.


The Chief Minister declared that a golden era has begun for Odisha’s youth, who will play the lead role in shaping the state’s future. He thanked the youth of Ganjam for establishing a “triple engine” of support. He also took a veiled dig at the opposition, referencing political absences during the recent Prime Minister’s visit to the State.


Odisha's Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and Digapahandi MLA Sidhanta Mohapatra were, among others, present on the occasion.
