Koraput, Dec 6: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 27-year-old man died after a tree branch fell on him while making preparation for his father's funeral in Kamta village under Borigumma block in Odisha's Koraput district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Laxman Mandal (67) and his son Benudhar Mandal, a young social activist.
According to sources, Benudhar's father died at his residence late on Wednesday night due to illness. His family members along with the villagers had taken the body to the funeral ground for last rites this morning.
During the last rites, a big branch of a tree fell on Benudhar’s head owing to incessant rains in the region from last night.
Benudhar, sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre at Borigumma where the doctors declared him 'brought dead'.
