Bhubaneswar, Jun 21: The world united in a wave of wellness and mindfulness as International Yoga Day 2025 was celebrated across 191 countries, with over 11 lakh locations in India alone hosting the grand “Yoga Sangam” events. From bustling metros to remote villages, the spirit of yoga echoed in every corner of the nation.
The main national event took place in Visakhapatnam, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a mass yoga session alongside more than 3 lakh participants.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister emphasized this year’s theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, highlighting yoga’s role in promoting both individual well-being and planetary harmony.
“Yoga is India’s timeless gift to the world,” said PM Modi. “It awakens our sense of interconnectedness and reminds us that we are not separate beings but part of nature itself.”
The Prime Minister also underscored India’s efforts to strengthen yoga through modern scientific research. Institutions like AIIMS Delhi are actively studying yoga’s impact on cardiovascular and neurological disorders, as well as its benefits for women’s health and mental well-being. The government is also promoting evidence-based yoga therapy to integrate traditional wisdom with modern healthcare.
From schoolchildren to senior citizens, millions participated in yoga sessions, workshops, and awareness drives, making this 11th edition of International Yoga Day a truly global celebration of unity, health, and sustainability.
