Sambalpur, Apr 16: A woman was killed while another sustained injuries after they were attacked by a wild tusker in Turcha village under Gaisilet police station in Sambalpur's Bargarh district.

The deceased has been identified as Ketaki Sahu.

According to reports, the incident took place this morning when Ketaki along with Kumodini had gone to the nearby forest area to collect mahua flowers. Meanwhile, they encountered with a wild elephant. Before they could react, the elephant attacked them killing Ketaki on the spot while Kumodini sustained severe injuries.

Kumodini was initially admitted to Gaisilet Primary Health Center and later shifted to hospital in Burla for further treatment.

On the other hand, police have registered a case of unnatural death into the incident and the body was seized for post-mortem.
