Cuttack, Jul 3: A woman home guard, deployed at Malgodown Police Station, was killed after a speeding truck ran over her near Chhatra Bazaar area in Cuttack on Thursday.

The deceased officer has been identified as Manorama Panda.

According to reports, the incident occurred while the woman officer was returning home from duty. Meanwhile, a speeding truck struck her from behind, causing fatal injuries. As a result, she died on the spot.

Soon after the incident, police reached the spot and sezied the body for post-mortem.

The truck was seized and further investigation into the incident was launched. A manhunt was also launched to nab the accused driver, who fled the scene soon after the incident.
