Deogarh, Apr 28: Police arrested four persons in connection with a gang-rape case under Barkote Police Station limits in Odisha's Deogarh district and produced them before a court on Monday, a source said.
One more accused remains at large. Following the hearing, bail pleas filed by the accused persons were rejected and they were sent to judicial custody.
The arrested individuals were identified as Udia Dhibar (26), son of Bachha Dhibar from Balita village; Daktar Bhuyan (33), son of Desh Bhuyan; Manoj Mahakul (22), son of Kulu Mahakul; and Prashant
alias Kengalu Nayak (28), son of Ravi Nayak from Indranijharan village.
According to the source, the incident took place on the night of April 20, when a 24-year-old woman was returning home after visiting a relative's house. On her way back home, she was allegedly gang-raped by five youths, including the four arrested accused.
Following the incident, the accused reportedly took obscene photographs of the survivor and circulated them on social media, the source added.

Subsequently, the survivor lodged a complaint at Barkote police station on Sunday. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under the relevant sections of IT Act and BNS section 70, and initiated an investigation.
Acting swiftly, police arrested four suspects and produced them before the court.
Further investigation into the case is underway, Inspector-In-Charge of Barkote police station Sushant Badhei informed.
