Road Accident / Woman Forester Dies After Truck Hits Scooter In Kalahandi

tragic road accident in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thursday. The deceased,
identified as Jhunubala Sahu, was serving in the Dharmagarh Forest Range,
police said.

According to the reports, the accident occurred near
Chancharabahadi village on the Junagarh–Bhawanipatna main road when a speeding
truck hit her scooter. Sahu sustained severe injuries in the crash
and was rushed to Junagarh hospital for treatment. Doctors, however, declared
her dead shortly after admission.

✨Police officials reached the accident site soon after the
incident and have begun an investigation into the circumstances leading to the
collision. Efforts are underway to determine the exact cause of the mishap.

The sudden death of Sahu has cast a shadow of grief over the Forest Department and the local community. Colleagues described her as a committed officer who diligently carried out her responsibilities. Residents of the area expressed shock and sorrow at the incident, noting her contribution to forest protection and community engagement.
A senior Police officer said further inquiries will establish accountability for the accident, while the district administration has assured necessary support to the bereaved family.
