Nayagarh, Jun 1: A pregnant woman died due to alleged medical negligence at the district headquarters hospital in Nayagarh.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Mamata Swain of Balugaon village in Nayagarh district, was admitted to the district headquarters hospital last night following labour pain. However, she remained unattended. 

After hours of undergoing severe labuor pain, Mamata passed away, sparking massive unrest at the hospital.

Following the incident, hundreds of locals gathered at the hospital premises, demanding the arrest of the responsible medical staff.

The situation escalated, prompting authorities to deploy security personnel, including the Nayagarh SDPO, three inspectors, and a platoon force, to maintain law and order.

The incident has raised serious concerns about healthcare services in the region, with demands for accountability and justice growing louder among the affected community.
