Keonjhar, Jul 16: In a tragic incident, two women lost their lives in Binjhabahal village under Telkoi police limits after being struck by lightning while working in the fields.

The victims have been identified as Rukmini Nayak, and her daughter-in-law Labani Nayak. Both were engaged in agricultural work when lightning suddenly struck, leaving them fatally injured.

They were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital but were declared brought dead.

The incident has left the community in shock, with grieving family members struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

Authorities have initiated procedures for post-mortem examinations and are expected to extend government aid to the bereaved family under disaster relief provisions.
