Dhenkanal, Mar 18: A woman was reportedly burnt to death as she tried to douse the forest fire that was spreading towards her house at Gobari village under Mahabirod police station limits in Dhenkanal district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Budhini Mohanty. According to the information, a blaze spread in the nearby forest for some reason, and that started spreading towards the village. As her house was near the forest, Budhini along with other family members rose to douse the fire. However, Budhini was caught in the fire.

Family members rushed Budhuni to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The incident has shocked the villagers. Villagers have demanded that the administration take appropriate measures to douse that forest fire and protect the village.
