Ganjam, Jul 14: A woman was allegedly set abalze by her in-laws over dowry demands at Kanheipur village under Khallikote police limits in Ganjam district.

The victim, Arati Parida, with critical burn injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

The matter came to fore after the victim's family membrs lodged a complaint with the local police.

On basis of the plaint, police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident.

According to Arati’s family, she had been facing ongoing harassment over dowry since her marriage two years ago.

While victim's husband Akash reportedly stays aborad for work, the family members have alleged Arati’s mother-in-law and brother-in-law for the incident.
