Ghasipura, Aug 14: A woman and her 9-year-old son died of snakebite in Radhikadeipur village under Ghasipura police limits on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Jema Munda, and her son Gopal.
According to reports, Jema Munda, her husband Sunil Munda and son Gopal, after finishing dinner, were sleeping on the floor of their home when the snakebite occurred around 1 AM.
Upon noticing their deteriorating condition, Sunil rushed the duo to the nearby Keshadurapal Health Centre. However, due to the severity of their condition, doctors advised immediate transfer to Anandapur Medical College and Hospital.
Tragically, Gopal passed on way to hospital, while Jema succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the village, with locals mourning the untimely loss of the mother and child.
