Cuttack, Jan 26: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi greeted the people after hoisting the National Flag in the district-level event in Cuttack on the auspicious occasion of the 76th Republic Day today.


"Greetings to each Odish resident and people of Bharat residing in the country and abroad on this auspicious Republic Day occasion," said the Chief Minister.


The Chief Minister paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Netaji Chandra Subhas Bose, Veer Savarkar, Dr BR Ambedkar, and many other legendary leaders who laid their lives and fetched independence to the country.


He also paid tributes to freedom strugglers of Odisha like Veer Surendra Sai, Saheed Madho Singh, Buxi Jagabandhu, Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Utkal Gaurav Madhusundar Das, Bhagawan Birsa Munda, Buxi Jagabandhu, Dr Harekrushna Mahtab, Saheed Baji Raut and Maa Rama Devi.


Stating that the Constitution, written under the chairmanship of Dr. BR Ambedkar, was introduced on November 26, 1949, and came into force on January 26, 1950, the Chief Minister said the country has also been celebrating November 26 as Constitution Day since Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who takes the Constitution as his first epic, announced in this regard in 1915.


"Democratic governance system was formally introduced 75 years back. Since then our country has been marching ahead based on the constitutional formalities unabated," said the Chief Minister.


He said crores of people have played prominent roles in upholding democracy in India, while many other countries, which also achieved independence from British colonialism, have failed to maintain democracy. The Chief Minister said the general people are the real rulers in a democratic country. India has turned into a powerful country under the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Already 5th largest economy, India is heading to become 3rd largest economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India has been honoured at many international forums," said the Chief Minister.


The Chief Minister said the country has progressed in social, economic, and cultural sectors. The establishment of the Ram Temple and the ongoing Mahakumba Mela are examples of the cultural growth that India is witnessing now.


The new Renaissance now plays an important role in maintaining communal harmony and national integrity. Based on this Mantra of Prime Minister Modi, a good governance system has been running in our State, claimed the Chief Minister.


"With Odia Asmita, the state's development has been proceeding in a rapid pace," said the Chief Minister.


On the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted various schemes introduced by his government, including Subhadra Yojana, an increase in pension for people aged above 80 and PWDs having 80 percent disabilities, Rs 500cr corpus fund for Shreemandir and procurement of paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal from farmers.


The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the introduction of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which will provide free treatment to Odia people, irrespective of their places of stay in the country.


He said the education sector of Odisha will see a radical change as the New Education Policy 2020 is set to be implemented in the State.
