Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: Winter has made a strong comeback in Odisha, with temperatures dipping steadily over the past few days. The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Saturday forecast that the state will experience mostly dry weather for the next week, while the mercury is expected to fall further by 2–3°C in the coming two days.
Cold Winds Sweep State
Officials said that the chill is being driven by the inflow of dry and cold north-western winds, which have intensified across the region. The drop in temperature has already begun to affect daily life, with residents reporting sharper cold conditions during early mornings and late evenings.
Jharsuguda Sets Historic Low
In a rare weather event, Jharsuguda recorded a minimum night
temperature of 8.1°C yesterday, marking the lowest November temperature in the
district in the past 71 years. The record-breaking chill has highlighted the
severity of the cold wave gripping western Odisha.

Meteorologists predict that the cold spell will continue, with temperatures likely to dip further in several districts. Residents have been advised to take precautions against the chill, particularly vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
Yellow Alert For Dense Fog
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicted that dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Kalahandi till tomorrow morning. The Meteorological Centre issued a yellow weather warning for dense fog for these districts.
