Chilika, Oct 17: The world-renowned Chilika Lake has once again come alive with the vibrant hues of migratory birds arriving from across the globe.
Thousands of winged visitors—ranging from flamingos and pintails to herons and ibises, have started arriving at the ecological haven. To ensure their safety, the Chilika Wildlife Division has launched an extensive protection initiative inclduig intensified patrolling, establishment of temporary bird protection camps across key zones such as Tangi, Rambha, Nuapada, Chilika, and Satapada.
Beside, the department has introduced drone surveillance to curb illegal bird hunting and track migratory patterns.
On the other hand, local fishermen have been instructed not to enter designated bird protection zones, and awareness campaigns are being conducted to educate communities about conservation.
